Melanie Quinn - Preparing for a Mission
Greetings brothers and sisters in Christ!
I have been approved for a three year assignment in Botswana through the Mennonite Mission Network. Botswana has been ravaged, like so many of the sub-Saharan countries, by HIV and AIDS. There are currently 120,000 orphans and the life expectancy is averaging 37 years old! Incredible to me, and I am sure to many, especially since there are only about one and a half million people in Botswana .
I am being sent to work with a youth group called Bopaganang Basha Ba Semoya. This lively youth ministry will involve education on prevention and care and also teaching life skills so the children can help each other to grow. These children are passionate about learning how to be productive citizens of both Botswana and God's Kingdom. What an exciting challenge!
The other equally exciting job for me will be to work with African Initiated churches. Attending services at these churches is an all day event and a celebration without time restraints. Another great blessing!
Join with us in prayer and support for this mission. This mission belongs to our whole church and will harvest the fruits we plant.
